TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF THIS CONCEPT ABOVE, VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT PSTA HAS PROPOSED IN APPLICATION TO FTA.
THIS PHOTO IS FROM BANGKOK, WHERE THEY HAD 5 BRT PROJECTS PLANNED, INSTALLED THE FIRST ONE AND CANCELLED THE REST!
FROM WIKIPEDIA: "The Bangkok BRT is a bus rapid bus system in Bangkok, Thailand. Of five routes that were originally planned, only one line has been operating since 2010, with the other routes cancelled. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) announced the whole system might be cancelled at the end of April 2017 due to low ridership and financial losses..."
PSTA WANTS TO BRING THIS BAD IDEA TO PINELLAS COUNTY MAIN STREETS STARTING WITH :
Lane removal from First Avenue North
Lane removal from First Avenue South
Lane removal from both directions of Pasadena Avenue
Continuing on from there to St Pete Beach all the way to the Don Cesar street running with traffic
(CLICK MAP BELOW FOR DETAILS)
PSTA PLANS TO BUY MANY HUGE BUSES THAT LOOK LIKE TRAINS THAT ARE SO HUGE THEY MUST BEND IN THE MIDDLE TO TURN CORNERS AND RUN THEM FROM 7AM TO 11PM DAILY!
NO DOUBT THEY TOO WILL HAVE BLACK WINDOWS TO HIDE THE EMPTY SEATS AS WE SEE WITH CURRENT PSTA BUSES!
They show clearly that over the past 5 Years Ridership has plummeted for PSTA.
Demand for Public Transportation in Pinellas has dropped by full 20%.
Ridership is counted not by Riders but by Rides, as 1 person generally equals several Rides per trip as they transfer buses.
Ridership has dropped whopping 20% for PSTA over the last 5 years and is continuing to drop.
WE MUST let officials know we oppose this, before it is approved and our lives are changed forever.
Urgent Action to take: Write, email, and call the people on link below, and tell them:
“WE OPPOSE PSTA'S CENTRAL AVENUE BUS RAPID TRANSIT PROJECT!"
EZ : WRITE ONE EMAIL , then send to all the Public officials ON LIST PROVIDED ABOVE.
Make the case why you say:
NO! to the Lane Loss
NO! to the congestion
NO! to the Lane Theft!
NO! to the Central Avenue BRT and
NO! NO! NO! TO $10 MILLION STATE AND $20 MILLION FEDERAL GRANTS
FACT: PSTA Bus ridership has declined a full 20% over the last 5 years and continues to fall as services such as Uber and Lift offer a better service for a fraction of the cost. Let transportation innovations continue and stop attempts to expand bus service where no increased demand exists! They are trying to remain relevant in changing world.
